1.
I can't hide
2.
Curse, like knives of the sun I fear them, I see them, I can feel them Cutting through my skin No wonder They seize all light And the reach of hope Does it lead to a road back home? Does it understand touch, language or pain? I have summoned rain clouds But you to no avail You exist solely in the realm Of desolate pining
3.
One future less One future caress One lesser dream Until I begin To forget A voice of love Transforming the present As it dissolves the past This youthful glow is there And always will be The very texture of loss
One future less One future caress One lesser dream Until I begin To forget Will you wake up now? Are differences but a Burnt down bridge Once constructed in a dream?
4.
So they became as silent as the night Crushing their dreams in a lightless grief Until a voice cut through the trees And the leaves rustled below their eyes Filling the sky with a fog That they milked from the earth And drank from the clouds The air is like blood Their skin will absorb The fading light hides the witches’ flight
5.
The Addict 03:14
Please hold my conscience If it glows In your light I cannot hide from all these Raging storms in my mind Loved what was wrong And fought what was right I am all alone with these shapes In the night Cut me off If I speak, hear my lies I do not know any true love Lust consumes my hollow eyes Oh, my heart wants to die Singing to a light That was mine
6.
No, the freezing winds They took us by surprise Oh, within me Regret Cold We will be saved In time In light and warmth Somewhere between The wise and the weak Lies God The weight of the blind In morning, at bay Safe from the storm We rot Snow It falls and hides The earth and the filth I forgot We will be saved In time In light and warmth Somewhere between The wise and the weak Lies God In morning, at bay Safe from the storm We rot
7.
We see the shifting light Look back at ancient time Death’s door, burned down Below us The die is cast And when we go, we’ll go too far And when we go, we’ll go alone And when we fall, we’ll fall so fast Yet, where we begin The end won’t yield to sin Life’s past Reversed Undoing our final night And when we end, we’ll breathe again And when we end, we’ll be let in And when we end, we’ll be like gods
8.
Somewhere down this crawling line Winter seeps into our heads It sings to us of a thousand fires And I know Come back to understand Measure the dark and the cold Beneath the sky In suits and hats Difference between the feet And the voice within A god or ghost now hides in clouds And I know

about

IJdelheid returns with "Alas, I Am Morbid!" - a follow-up album that steers Ruben Wijlacker's project towards dark folk realms, whilst retaining its unique macabre and ethereal nature. This release is an introspective and dichotomous journey that sounds equally as heavenly, fragile and intricate as it does gloomy, sombre and subdued. Dreamy vocals float upon neo-folkesque guitars in an atmosphere enhanced by additional instrumentation and exquisite production flourishes. The resulting songs are death ballads for the modern era.

The first single, "Look At All We Lost!", is available now on all streaming platforms. The full album releases on September 1st, on digital and limited CD via Onism Productions.
